Overview
This website is dedicated to the London, UK based subsidiary of the Karam Kriya School specialising in offering Kundalini Yoga teacher training courses specifically in London, UK.
The Karam Kriya School is an international organisation offering Aquarian Teacher Training for Kundalini Yoga, as taught by Yogi Bhajan, in countries all over the world. It was originally founded by Shiv Charan Singh in London, UK but is now headquartered in Portugal.
History
Founded by Shiv Charan Singh and Satya Kaur in the year 2000, the Karam Kriya School has been offering yearly teacher training courses in London ever since and has built a reputation of excellence, over that time, for delivering the teachings of Yogi Bhajan and Kundalini Yoga in an uncompromising fashion, strongly upholding the principles upon which they are based.
During this period the school has successfully trained and certified hundreds of Kundalini Instructors and, in the process, acted as a vehicle to empower people with the transformational technology that is Kundalini Yoga and the conscious way of life with which it goes hand in hand.
Since inception the Karam Kriya School has grown to be an international organisation, now headquartered in Portugal, offering teacher training courses all over the world.
Directors
SATYA KAUR CO-FOUNDER, DIRECTOR
Satya Kaur has been teaching Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan since 1981 and training teachers since 2001. She is a recognized KRI trainer at levels I and II. Satya trained and worked as a Registered Midwife between 1991 and 2000, in Haringey, North London.
She is one of the founding directors of the Quinta do Rajo Ashram, in Portugal and additionally one of the driving forces behind The Mother’s Journey – a Pregnancy Yoga Teacher Training initiative co-founded by her and 2 other women.
Satya is the author of “Yoga, Kundalini e Eu”, the first Kundalini Yoga book written and published in Portuguese. In recent years she has been using Myth-a-Drama as a means of accessing and playing with one’s hidden and creative potential. This, in her view. complements the discipline of the yogic lifestyle.
Satya has a down to earth approach to most things and therefore her teaching style is simple and engaging. She loves to tackle controversy and the “imaginary”contradictions of different traditions.
SHIV CHARAN SINGH CO-FOUNDER, DIRECTOR
Shiv Charan Singh, Scottish by birth, is an outstanding and authentic spiritual teacher. Karam Kriya means ‘action in spiritual awareness’. Shiv Charan is deeply committed to guiding students in their spiritual growth so they can bring spiritual awareness into their everyday lives and develop their full potential as human beings. He is a skilled counsellor and author of several books in areas such as human communication, the mystery of numbers and poetry.
As a young person, Shiv Charan had a number of nearly fatal incidents and these near death experiences gave him an intimate knowledge of the process of living and dying that we all seek to understand. As an adolescent he experienced full Kundalini rising, a term used to describe profound spiritual awakening. In his early twenties he studied Sikh Dharma with Siri Singh Sahib Bhai Sahib Harbhajan Singh Khalsa, the religious leader and founder of Sikh Dharma in the West.
Following a degree in humanities, he has undertaken extensive training in counselling and therapeutic skills and has worked intensively and successfully with people who have drug habits and severe emotional problems.
In the year 2000 he founded the vibrant and cosmopolitan Karam Kriya School from London and more recently relocated to Portugal and there co-founded the Quinta do Rajo Ashram which is now a base for the International Karam Kriya School. As well as his involvement in the accredited Kundalini Yoga Teacher Training courses, he is the driving force behind Karam Kriya – The science of Applied Numerology, the study of which provides a tool for understanding the harmony and inter-relatedness of all things.
Neither self seeking nor political in his teachings, he is entertaining and both charismatic and humble in the way he speaks. Above all, his warmth and compassion have generated a community spirit at the school which reaches out to the community regardless of age and background, and attracts people from all over the world.
